Storyline

Carla Bhem is a secretary working for an estate agent; she operates the telephone switchboard, compiles files on properties, draws up estimates, takes care of the accounts and the deliveries... She is the first to arrive at the office in the morning and the last to leave at night. As a sign of gratitude for her services, she is rewarded with a measly wage; moreover, her bosses are completely inflexible when it comes to showing any consideration for her wishes. Carla has had enough. She knows she deserves a lot better but, what is an average-looking 35-year-old woman like her to do in a society where men have all the clout? Her situation is exacerbated by the fact that she is almost deaf and wears a hearing aid in both ears – making her he constant butt of many a joke. Assuming that Carla can’t hear them anyway Carla’s colleagues carry on regardless; however, Carla can understand everything they say because she can read their lips. One day, Carla hires a young trainee named Paul. This 25-year-old hasn’t the foggiest about the estate agent business and even his manners leave a lot to be desired. However, Paul’s qualities lie in other areas – he may be a thief who has just been let out of prison, but he is a real knock-out to look at. Carla and Paul decide to help each other out: Carla teaches Paul some good manners and, in return, Paul teaches her some bad ones. What’s more – the initial results are extremely promising.
