Storyline

A ninety-year old grey parrot, once the property of Edouard Daladier, the French Prime Minister who signed the Munich Pact in 1938, now the pet of a French actress, finds itself at a press conference in Prague's French Institute. During the press conference, the parrot upstages things by repeating phrases he'd learned in those days, including nice comments about Hitler and nasty words regarding Czechs. In dramatic fashion, Czech journalist Pavel abducts the parrot, setting off an unwanted international scandal, mainly because of the bird’s habit of making these controversial quotes.

The French authorities managing the crisis decide upon a radical solution: assassinate the national treasure. But that’s only half the story… The film is the torso of an unfinished feature with serious cinematic intentions. What follows is a 50-minute Making Of documentary, which, on the surface, gives a behind-the-scenes look into an international coproduction, while all the while continuing to explore the emotional territory and political/historical themes established in the illfated feature.
